How to Reconstitute a Research Peptide: A Step-by-Step Lab Guide

Research peptides are usually supplied as a lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder. Before they can be measured for laboratory study they are reconstituted — dissolved in a suitable solvent.

What you need

A vial of lyophilised peptide, an appropriate solvent such as bacteriostatic water, and standard laboratory measuring equipment.

The basic steps

  1. Let the vial reach room temperature.
  2. Add the solvent slowly down the inside wall of the vial rather than directly onto the powder.
  3. Allow the powder to dissolve on its own; swirl gently if needed rather than shaking vigorously.
  4. Store the reconstituted solution as directed on the product page.
